PROCESSION OF THE LORD OF MIRACLES

Tomorrow is scheduled the release of our "Lord of Miracles" from the Church of the Nazarene.
It's amazing the emotion one feels to be in front of his image. In fact I´ll be there, is a promise. No matter how many people go there,  because it takes me, my eyes are in search of his image, My heart and my tears fall without my permission, and when I look around we are all united in this beautiful feeling , which is faith.
So they can know a little more about "The Lord of Miracles", let tell you: "The story goes that in the mid-seventeenth century, a humble mulatto painted the crucified Christ on a cloth wall within the midden Pachacamilla. On November 13, 1655, at 2:45 pm there was a terrible earthquake in Lima and Callao, crumbling churches, burying houses leaving thousands dead and injured.
All the walls of the guild fell apart, except the weak in the adobe wall which was painted the image of Jesus. The image remained intact with no cracking.
On October 20, 1687 a tsunami destroyed the part of Lima and Callao, it demolished and the chapel which was built to honor the image of Christ. Leaving only standing the adobe wall with the image of Christ Crucified. Thus it was accepted by the Church and devoted their worship.
Therefore, the image of the Lord of Miracles, every year is celebrated in the month of October since 1687, and thousands of peruvian and foreign believers accompain, with  chants, incense and wearing purple habits.

HABIT

Then Dona Antonia Lucia, a woman who always dressed in purple with a white cord, was always at the bottom of the image. In her honor the faithful dress in purple  gown which we call habit, and it is still used.

DONA PEPA NOUGAT

Tradition has it that its inventor was a brunette named Josefa Marmanillo, a slave of the valley of Cañete. Doña "Pepa" was released because it suffered from paralysis and promised to go to the procession and  follow if it alleviates their condition. During the first day of the procession miraculously recovered the use of their arms and hands. That same night, Mrs. "Pepa" dreamed the recipe for nougat. The next day she prepared  the nougat  and distributed among the poor of The Nazarene.
